Hello everyone.
The Premiers of Fairfield, AL, began in the late 50's. Shortly after its formation, I played drums for the group which included Dale Carr, Len Wade, Howard Tennyson, and one other whose name I can't recall. Sometime in 58' or 59' I believe, Duke Rumor arranged for us to record a 45 in a studio in downtown Brimingham. We did so and the two songs recorded were "Ruby Baby" and "Oh Babe". Len sang the lead, Howard played bass, Dale played lead guitar, and I played drums. Our other member played rhythm guitar. I owned a copy of this 45 until about 1960 when it disappeared. I am wondering if anyone might know if a copy of this 45 still exists and where to find one? My thanks in advance for any detective work you might provide!

Hey Bobby,
I have spread the word about this 45. Members that deal with local groups are checking on it. Some questions we have include; What label is it own? Was the studio Boutwell Studios? I'll see what I can find out. Thanks. Charlie

Thanks Charlie:
Sorry, but I have long since forgotten the name of the studio and the name of the record label. I believe the label was red in color, but even that I can't be sure of. I haven't seen this 45 since 1960 or so! I do appreciate you spreading the word for me.

A club member asked one of the members of the group about this record and he could only recall that there was only 1 record and members shared it. Sound familiar? (I forgot who the group member was that was asked) Charlie

Wow! That could be true. I remember loaning it to Bo Reynolds so it could be true that only one was made. Can you find out who is the member that made that comment?

Premiers photos
Charlie:
I hope to attend the Hall of Fame induction on the 17th, but there is a chance I will not be able to. In that case, I would like to send 3 pictures (actually copies of the originals which I sitll have) of the original Premiers during the 1959-1960 time frame. These were promotional pictures taken by my mother, Martha Hewlett, at our home in Forest Hills, AL. Pictured are Dale Karrh, Howard Tennyson, our rhythm guitarist whose name I have forgotten, and me. My mother made the sport coats we wore that were pruple and blue plaid. If there is a place for these pictures, I will be happy to donate them to BRC. They are framed and ready for hanging. Could you please contact me with a shipping address to send these photos? They will need to be shipped via UPS. You can contact me via either my e-mail Bob@enduremed.com, or by cell phone 770 315-3667. Again, I appreciate the detective work you are doing to find the Premiers first 45!

Coach Hewlitt
Hi Bob,
Was your Dad Coach Hewlitt at Fairfield? I graduated from Fairfield in '66. Just curious.
Thanks,

Coach Hewlett
Hello Pierre:
Yes, my Dad was Coach Hewlett. He was guidance counselor and teacher at FHS and coached football, basketball, and baseball in his early years there. He eventaully was Principal there and later at C. J. Donald elementary. He passed away in March of 2005. He was my hero and best friend. I miss him daily. Thank you for asking.

WVOK show
I attended the Record Collectors' show on 8/17 and my memory was jogged by the induction of the Premiers into the Hall of Fame. Did the Premiers appear on the bill of the legendary WVOK Shower of Stars show at Legion Field on May 7, 1965 which was headlined by the Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones?
